Learn how to make a DIY giant pearl pinecone Christmas Tree in this step-by-step craft tutorial showing each step with photos.
Pinecones are one of our favorite craft supplies, and we've used them for everything from pinecone wreaths and pinecone garlands to ornaments made with pinecones and more.
We made a pearl pinecone Christmas tree recently, using a mid-sized pinecone that turned out great.
Today, we are going to continue to use faux pearls as "ornaments" and make a giant pearl pinecone Christmas tree - the pearl version of the giant pom pom pinecone Christmas tree we made here.
How to Make a Giant Pearl Pinecone Christmas Tree
Step 1. Gather Supplies
Supplies Needed:
- Giant Pinecone
- Stick or Branch
- Wood Slice with a hole drilled in the center
- Fake Pearls
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue
Step 2. Use the same method for creating a tree trunk and base for our "pinecone tree" that we used in this giant pompom pinecone tutorial here.
Cut a small section of a branch and hot glue it into the center hole of the wood slice.
This becomes the pinecone tree's trunk and base - the giant pinecone tree should stand up on its own once you've done this step.
(Revisit this giant pinecone tree tutorial for a refresher on how to do this step.)
Step 3. Put a dab of hot glue onto the end of one of the pinecone's sections.
Step 4. Place a pearl into the dab of glue and hold until it cools.
Step 5. Repeat, gluing pearls around the pinecone tree at varying intervals.
Leave some of the sections bare so it doesn't get too cluttered.
Step 6. Turn the tree around and make sure you get the backside as well.
Your giant pearl pinecone tree is finished!
In our version of the giant pearl pinecone tree, we spaced the pearls out quite a bit.
This lets the pinecone itself take the stage and be the focus, with the pearl ornaments as embellishment.
You could add more pearls to the tree, giving them more of the focus, but just be careful not to make it look too cluttered.
It's very rustic chic, and works on the mantel during the winter holiday season or all year around! Pair it with a set of DIY wooden Christmas trees and you're all set!
