How to Make a Giant Pearl Pinecone Christmas Tree

Learn how to make a DIY giant pearl pinecone Christmas Tree in this step-by-step craft tutorial showing each step with photos.

Materials

  • Giant Pinecone
  • Stick or Branch
  • Wood Slice with Hole Drilled in the Center
  • Fake Pearls
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue

Instructions

  • You're going to use the same method for creating a tree trunk and base that we used in this giant pompom pinecone tutorial here.
Cut a small section of a branch and hot glue it into the center hole of the wood slice.
Then, hot glue the trunk and base to the bottom of the pinecone.
(Revisit this giant pinecone tree tutorial for a refresher on how to do this step.)
The giant pinecone tree should stand up on its own once you've done this step.
  • Put a dab of hot glue onto the end of one of the pinecone's sections.
Place a pearl into the glue and hold it until it cools.
  • Repeat, gluing pearls around the pinecone tree at varying intervals.
Leave some of the sections bare so it doesn't get too cluttered.
  • Turn the tree around and make sure you get the backside as well.
Once you've added pearls around all sides of the pinecone, the giant pearl pinecone tree is finished!

Notes

  • If your pinecone stands up on its own without adding a base, you could skip that step if you want to.
  • Check online retailers, craft stores, and dollar stores for large pine cones like this.
  • If you love this project, you can use the same method and add pom poms, metal bells, beads, or gems to the pinecones as "ornaments."
