A wreath made with faux leather leaves hanging a the wall.

A wreath is a home decor fixture because it's so easy to customize for any season, holiday, occasion, or aesthetic.

Fall wreaths can be made with branches, leaves, pine cones (like our DIY pinecone wreath!), pumpkins, and gourds just to name a few.

Today, we're going to use faux leather leaves from the Dollar Tree to make a gorgeous, elegant fall-inspired leaf wreath for your wall, mantel, or front door.

    Why You'll Love This Craft

    • Faux leather leaves look so luxurious and elegant, so they're just begging to be make into a beautiful wreath!
    • Most wreath projects are easy, but this one is so simple. All you have to do is glue leaves in a circle!
    • This same project idea could be made with real fall leaves preserved with Mod Podge, or even beeswax-covered fall leaves!

    Craft Supplies Needed

Fake leather leaves to make a wreath with.
    • Faux Leather Leaves - I found my faux leather leaves at the Dollar Tree, but you can also check craft stores, or online. If you can't find faux leather leaves, you can use fabric or felt leaves for a similar look.
    • Wreath Form - You can make a DIY wreath form with wire like I did, or buy a premade wreath form as long as you have enough leaves to cover it.
    • Hot Glue Gun and Glue - This is the best way to attach leaves securely to a wreath!

How to Make a Faux Leather Leaf Wreath

Old electrical wire to make into a circle wreath form.

Step 1: If you are making a DIY wreath form, you can use many different materials.

I am using old electrical wire, but you could use a wire coat hanger, any thick wire, or you could even cut a big circle out of thick cardboard.

You just need to have a sturdy wreath surface to hot glue your leaves onto.

Old electrical wire formed into a circle, with the ends taped together with masking tape.

Step 2. I used masking tape to secure the two ends of the old electrical wire into a circle shape.

Step 3. To hide the masking tape, I wrapped it in twine, gluing the beginning and end to secure it.

Step 4: Begin hot gluing leaves onto the wreath form, overlapping them as you go.

Step 5. Continue to place them one by one, around the circle of the wreath form. Overlap each one as you hot glue it until the entire wreath is covered.

Step 6: Once the whole wreath is covered, check both sides of the wreath to make sure all of the leaves are secured to the wreath form. Add more hot glue if any of the leaves are too loose.

Your faux leather leaf wreath is ready to hang!

    Common Questions

Can I use a premade wreath form for this project?

Yes, you can! I planned to use a premade wire wreath like I used in the jute wreath tutorial, but I didn't have enough leather leaves to cover the whole thing. That's why I had to improvise and make a DIY wreath form out of old electrical wire instead. If you have enough leaves and a premade wreath form, use that!

How do I hang this leaf wreath up?

I hung the wreath on a nail or command hook just by resting the wire wreath form on it. If that isn't going to work for your wreath, you can tie a small piece of twine around the wreath form and use that to hang the wreath up. If you don't want the hanging string to be visible, try using clear fishing line which is basically invisible!

I can't find faux leather leaves. What else can I use to make this wreath?

I didn't realize how precious these faux leather leaves would be - they are hard to find! If I had known, I would have bought a dozen packs! If you can't find faux leather leaves like I used in this tutorial, you can use paper leaves, fabric leaves, or felt leaves. I have even seen wooden leaves which could look cool too.

Or, use the real thing! Preserve some real fall leaves with Mod Podge, or dip the leaves in beeswax, and use them to make a fall leaf wreath just like we did in this tutorial here. Just be gentle as you make the wreath since those leaves are going to be more fragile than leather leaves.

Wreaths are home decor staples and for good reason.

They can be customized to fit any season, holiday, or color scheme, and they're often very easy to make!

This faux leather leaf wreath is no exception; with just a few supplies and a couple of minutes, you can make a fall wreath you'll be proud to hang on your wall, above your mantel, or on your front door!

These faux leather leaves are also perfect for making a lovely fall leather leaf garland too!
