    Why You'll Love This Craft

    • Succulents are fresh, spring-y, and lively. They just make people happy!
    • Real succulents have a waxy, plump look to them which makes it easy for the artificial versions to look lifelike.
    • Making wreaths with artificial flowers and plants can sometimes look obvious and fake. But since these faux succulents look so close to the real thing, this wreath looks surprisingly authentic too!

    Craft Supplies Needed

supplies needed to make a succulent wreath
    • Styrofoam Wreath Form - I used a green styrofoam wreath so it would blend with the green succulents.
    • Faux Succulents - I bought bulk batches from Amazon, but I have also seen succulents available at craft stores, Walmart, and even dollar stores.
    • Wire Cutter - The stems of my succulents each had wire inside. This will ruin scissors if you use them to trim the stems.
    • Hot Glue Gun and Glue - For securing the succulents to the wreath form.
    • Twine - To create a hanging loop on the back of the wreath.

How to Make a Succulent Wreath

push fake succulents into the styrofoam wreath

Step 1. Push the stems of faux succulent plants into the styrofoam of the wreath form.

Vary the size, type, and color of succulents, as well as the direction that they are added to the wreath.

Step 2. Depending on how long the succulent stems are, they may stick out the back of the wreath form.

clip the wire backs of the fake succulents off from the back of the wreath using a wire cutter

Step 3. If the stems do protrude from the back of the styrofoam wreath form, use a wire cutter to cut off the extra stem.

continue adding faux succulents to the wreath

Step 4. Continue adding succulents all the way around the wreath.

Hot glue succulents to the wreath form to secure if they are loose

Step 5. If you want to add extra stability, hot glue the backs of the succulents to the wreath form.

add more succulents to make the wreath look thicker

Step 6. Fill out the wreath by adding faux succulents to the inner and outer edges of the wreath.

This will make it look thicker and more full.

continue adding faux succulents to the wreath

Once you have added all of the succulents, your wreath is done!

    Common Questions

Where is the best place to buy faux succulents?

You can buy faux succulents in bulk on Amazon; that's where I bought mine. You can also buy fake succulent plants at craft stores, home good stores, Walmart, and dollar stores.

How do you attach the succulents to the wreath?

I used a foam wreath form so I could simply push the stems of the succulents into and through the foam to hold the plants in place. It's easy to reinforce them with a little hot glue as well. You could use other types of wreath forms like straw wreaths or wire wreath forms, but you would have to rely on hot glue only to secure the plants to the wreath.

What is the easiest way to hang up a succulent wreath?

Once the fake succulent wreath is finished, you can hang the wreath up using a large nail. Otherwise, you can use an over the door hanger to hang the wreath on your front door, or tie a loop of twine around the wreath in between plants to create a hanging loop.

The best part about this DIY succulent wreath is that it will never wilt or die since we used faux succulents!

That's a win in my book!
