Perler beads are a staple of childhood - most people have fond memories of making designs with them and then ironing them to melt the beads together.

Today, we are going to use Perler beads in a different way - we are going to add them to pipe cleaner snowflakes to make colorful, easy Christmas ornaments!

How to Make Perler Beaded Pipe Cleaner Snowflake Ornaments

Step 1. Gather Supplies

Supplies Needed:

• White Pipe Cleaners
• Perler Beads
• Wire Cutter
• Twine
• Scissors

Step 2. To make a large snowflake, connect two full-size white pipe cleaners by twisting them together in the center.

Step 3. Add a third pipe cleaner and twist around the center so you now have a 6-prong snowflake.

Step 4. Slide on Perler beads to each of the pipe cleaners.

Use whichever colors you choose, and add as many as you want.

I wanted some of the white pipe cleaner to show, so I staggered the beads.

Step 5. Fold the ends of each pipe cleaner over to keep the beads from sliding off.

Step 6. Repeat for all parts of the snowflake.

How to Make a Mini Perler Bead Pipe Cleaner Snowflake

Step 1. For a smaller snowflake, start by cutting full-size white pipe cleaners in half using a wire cutter.

(Don't use good scissors; the wire in the pipe cleaner can damage your scissors!)

You'll need three pieces of pipe cleaner.

Step 2. Twist them around each other in the center to make a snowflake, as you did for the large snowflake.

Step 3. Add Perler beads to each end, and fold the pipe cleaner over to keep the beads from sliding off.

Step 4. Add a loop of twine as a hanging string, and fold one pipe cleaner over it to hold it in place.

You can make other fun shapes like little beaded candy canes too!
