How to make a DIY fairy house using sticks, moss, hot glue, and other treasures from nature like pine cones, acorns, and more!
Nothing brings a little magic and whimsy to your home like a fairy house.
Whether your fairy house resides outside or is used for make-believe indoors, an intricate fairy house is a wonderful addition to your home.
Today, we are going to make our own DIY fairy house!
We will use sticks, hot glue, moss, and other treasures from the great outdoors to create a one-of-a-kind creation.
Here's how to make one!
How to Make a Fairy House
Step 1. Gather Supplies
Supplies Needed:
- Sticks
- Pruning Shears or other means to cut sticks
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue
- Small piece of wood - to use as a base for the fairy house
- Moss and other natural embellishments
Step 2. Cut a bunch of sticks the same length - ours are roughly 10 inches long.
Step 3. Hot glue the sticks to the wooden base one at a time to make a teepee shape.
Hot glue each stick to the wooden base, and glue the other end of the stick to the top of the teepee.
Step 4. Continue gluing sticks around the teepee to fill in the gaps.
You'll see your fairy house teepee emerge!
Step 5. Hot glue moss to the wooden base to make a soft floor for your fairy house.
Step 6. You can also glue moss to the outside of the fairy house for decoration.
Step 7. To make a fire pit for the middle of the fairy house, cut small sticks roughly 2 inches long.
Hot glue them into a small teepee shape.
You can add the fire teepee to the middle of the fairy house floor, and add a few acorns and birch bark underneath as an accent.
That's it!
Your DIY fairy house is finished!
How fun is that!?
Making your very own fairy house is a great project to do with the children in your life, but I'll be honest - it's a fun project to do as an adult too!
The sky is the limit with this project. I am brainstorming all kinds of additions to make to my fairy house (or maybe I will need to make a fairy village and add in a few more houses)... I'm thinking a rope swing, clothes line, wooden bench, ladder...
See?? It's so much fun!
