Learn how to make yarn tassel keychains for back-to-school; perfect for backpacks and lunch boxes!
The stores are telling us that back to school season is right around the corner.
As you get backpacks and lunchboxes organized, here is a fun craft project that adds a bit of fun to any back to school outfit: handmade tassel keychains!
Here's how to make three different variations of neon yarn tassels for back-to-school!
How to Make Yarn Tassel Keychains for Back-to-School
Step 1. Gather Supplies
Supplies Needed:
- Yarn - (I used a bright neon yellow, just for fun!)
- Scissors
- Embroidery Needle
- Rainbow Beads
- Letter Beads
- Keychain Lanyard Hooks
Step 2. Make yarn tassels and trim them up.
Step 3. For the simple tassel version, use a small section of yarn to knot the lanyard keychain hook to the top of the tassel.
Trim the ends of the yarn, and swivel it so the knot is hidden on the inside of the tassel.
Step 4. For the rainbow-beaded version of the tassel keychain, take a piece of twine and thread it through the keychain loop.
Add beads onto both strands of the twine.
Thread the tassel onto the twine, and knot the two ends to snug it up.
Step 5. For the letter bead version of the tassel keychains, use a piece of yarn and loop it through the keychain.
(I didn't use twine for this one because the holes in the letter beads were too small to fit doubled-up twine through them.)
Thread on pony beads and letter beads in the order of your choice.
When you are done, thread the tassel onto the string, and knot it to secure.
Hide the knot inside the tassel if needed.
There you have it!
Three different versions of back-to-school keychains for backpacks, lunchboxes, locker decorations or whatever else you can think of!
Have fun with it!
You can experiment with different colors of yarn, types of beads, and lengths of tassels.
