Here's how to make an easy fleece tie blanket!
How to Make a Fleece Tie Blanket | No Sew Fleece Blanket
Step 1. Gather Supplies
Supplies Needed:
- Fleece Fabric
- Scissors
Step 2. Cut fleece fabric into two equal rectangles that are slightly larger than you want your finished blanket to be.
In this tutorial, we are using small rectangles to make a doll blanket.
However, the exact same process is used to make a no-sew fleece blanket of any size.
The only determining factor between a doll blanket and a lap blanket or even bigger is how large the rectangles of fleece are.
Step 3. Stack the fleece rectangles on top of each other, with the right sides facing out.
Step 4. Cut a square out of each corner of the blanket.
Cut out squares of about 2" on each side if you want your blanket to have a short tie fringe.
Cut out squares of about 3" or slightly longer on each side if you want your blanket to have a longer tie fringe.
Step 5. Cut fringe along one edge of the fleece.
Cut each fringe slit as long as the side of the square you removed.
Space the slits about ¾" apart, and continue to cut fringe along the whole side of the fleece.
Step 6. Tie the first set of fringe once.
Step 7. Tie the first set of fringe again.
This will create a knot. Pull the knot tight to remove any slack.
That is the first knot of your no sew fleece blanket made with ties!
Step 8. Continue to cut the fringe and tie two knots along the length of the first side of the blanket.
Step 9. Begin cutting slits along the second side of the blanket, using the same width and depth as the first side.
Tie each set of fringe twice into a knot, and continue along the length of the second side.
Step 10. Continue to cut slits and tie each set of fringe into knots along all four sides of the blanket.
Once all of the fringes are cut and tied together in knots along each of the four sides, your blanket is done!
It is surprisingly easy to make a no sew fleece blanket.
You don't need any sewing skills at all; you just need to cut slits along the edges of the fleece and tie them twice into a knot.
Use two small pieces of fleece to make a doll blanket, slightly larger pieces to make a dog blanket, and big pieces of fleece to make a lap blanket or even a tie fleece blanket for your bed. (And you can use a similar process to make a fleece tie pillowcase!)
It's a great kids' craft project too because it doesn't require much skill; just a little bit of patience!
