How to Make a Jute Wreath

Learn how to make a DIY jute wreath using jute rope and a wire wreath in this simple craft project! Your front door will thank you when you hang up your new jute wreath, made with this easy step-by-step tutorial!

Materials

  • Circle Wire Wreath Frame
  • Jute Rope
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue
  • Scissors

Instructions

  • Begin by wrapping the jute rope over, under, over, and under the four sections of the wire wreath form, just like we did when we started this star wreath tutorial.
You will continue this over / under / over / under method for the entire wreath.
  • Go under the first wire.
  • Then, go over the next wire section.
  • Then, under the next wire.
  • Finally, go over the final wire wreath section.
Then, you will come back the other way, beginning with going under the first wire as you reverse the order you just completed.
  • Over the second wire.
  •  Under the third wire.
  • And ending over the fourth wire.
  • Continue to weave the jute rope over, under, over, and under the wires in an alternating pattern.
Snug up the rope as you go, so there aren't any visible gaps in the wreath.
If you run out of rope and need to start a new one, begin from the back so you can hot glue and hide the ends.
  • Continue weaving the jute rope until the whole wreath frame is covered and complete.
Hot glue the end of the rope to the backside of the wreath to secure and hide it.

Notes

  • We used jute rope for this tutorial, but you can use any type of rope in whatever material or thickness you like.
  • Buy extra rope so you don't run out. I used 4 or 5 bundles of 8+ ft rope for my project but bought extra in case I ran out. (You don't want to run out!)
  • This project looks very complicated but it's not! The weaving pattern is simple but lends itself beautifully to an intricate wreath that will look beautiful on your front door!
