How to Make a Felt Valentine Heart Garland

Looking for ideas for felt Valentine's Day crafts to make? Here's how to make a super simple and cute felt Valentine heart garland using felt and baker's twine!

Materials

Instructions

  • Print and cut out the heart template from the free Resource Library.
  • Use the heart template to cut out hearts from felt.
You can trace the heart shape onto the felt with a pencil and then cut the hearts out.
Or, you can carefully hold the heart in place while you cut around it.
PRO TIP: You will likely be able to double up the felt and cut out two hearts at once.
  • Determine how long you want your finished garland, and cut a long piece of twine.
  • Thread the embroidery needle with one end of the twine.
  • String the felt hearts onto the twine in whatever color pattern you want.
For each heart, I pushed the needle from back to front, and then from front to back again.
  • Continue until all of the felt hearts are on the twine in the correct color order.
  • Fine-tune the spacing of the hearts.
Slide them around until they are spaced evenly.
Tie a knot at each end of the twine, and you’re ready to hang it up!

Notes

  • Look for felt at any craft store or online retailer.
  • You can use embroidery floss, Baker's Twine, cotton string, or yarn as a hanging string if you don't want to use twine.
  • Try layering this felt heart garland with other garlands to create a dynamic mantel display for the holiday!
