- Hot Glue Gun and Glue
- Scissors
To make a large, long tissue paper tassel, we will use a full-sized piece of tissue paper.
Fold the piece of tissue paper in half, bringing the top edge down to the bottom edge.Smooth out the top edge to crease it. Cut slits into the tissue paper from the bottom up, about ½" apart.Stop cutting about 2" from the top folded edge. Continue cutting the fringe along the whole bottom edge of the tissue paper.
Put a line of glue along the folded top of the tissue paper, and begin to roll the tissue paper.(The hot temperature of the glue caused my tissue paper to discolor. If you don't want this to happen, you could always use Tacky Glue or even Elmers white glue.) Continue gluing and rolling the tissue paper up into a tassel.Secure the end with glue so it doesn't unravel.
- You can find tissue paper at any big box store in the gift wrap section, or at craft stores and dollar stores.
- Save the tissue paper when you are given gifts! Smooth out any wrinkles, and fold it up to use again for your own gift wrap or to upcycle for crafts like these!
- If you like these tassels, you can use the same method to make them using paper, cardboard, or fabric!
