I’m catching up on posting sessions that haven’t been up on the blog yet, and today, I’ve got a beautiful, colorful fall session to share.
When Ashley contacted me about having a family photo session done with her husband and dog, I immediately was excited. As a fellow dog mama, I know well the love people have for their furry babies.
But Ashley also shared that their dog, Bella, was recently diagnosed with cancer and while they were doing treatment and expected to have another year and a half with her, they wanted to have photos taken while she was still her energetic, spunky self.
Cue a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes!
We had a fantastic session, capturing Bella in her element, and the love Ashley and Tony have for her. I loved every minute of the time we spent shooting.
We shot this session a year and a half ago now.
I emailed Ashley to get an update on Bella before I posted this, watching to see how she was doing now that a year and a half had passed. Ashley said she continues to get routine chemotherapy but that she’s doing well and hasn’t shown any signs of the cancer spreading or side effects of the chemo. She passed her 1.5 year prognosis last summer, so she’s already defying the odds she was given.
I’m so happy to hear the positive update on Bella! I hope she continues to do well for a long, long time.
For all of you dog lovers out there who consider your pups a part of your family, this one is for you!
Enjoy!
